CSE's Knowledge Portal
3 Comment(s)Mar 31, 2008
Here's the first media release for the portal, as it takes shape, at our office: http://sify.com/finance/fullstory.php?id=14632463 Some key highlights:
- Over 20 years of research material from Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) being migrated to this
- The acquisition processes at CSE, under Ms. Sunita Narain's leadership, are being revamped to enable this to become a daily updated and alive portal
- Completely based on open source platforms; Drupal, content management system, is being used by us to build this
We're all excited. (and if I may mention - the development team is absolutely under pressure to meet this tight deadline, for a showcase of the approach so far to the Knowledge Commission and the elite gathering at the venue; and ofcourse they're doing a fabulous job) :-)

I'm writing this brief
I'm writing this brief comment while sitting at the site of the demo launch and the advisory meeting for this Knowledge portal.
Sitting among the leading environmentalists and related professionals (academics, researchers, non-government organisations and government agencies and ministry representatives) in the country, and evaluating how they would like to see this portal evolve, is so energising.
The power of technology to "bring change in the world" is immense. This is absolutely thrilling!
Please keep your eyes peeled for more on this project, when it goes live shortly.
